Sustainability is a topic that has become increasingly highlighted in recent years as we are forced to accept that there are limits to the natural resources available to us.

The issue of sustainability derives from the concerns of how we treat our surroundings, the materials we use in our construction works and also where those materials are sourced from. Lucy & Co appreciate that our building works can potentially have a dramatic impact on the surrounding environments so we strive to ensure that any effect is minimised.

We have made a conscious decision to consider the issues relating to the environment and sustainability when embarking on all new projects. We aim to exceed the minimum standards imposed by Building Control measures on all our new build projects in an attempt to limit the impact and energy use of the building throughout its lifetime.

We also have procedures in place at “ground-level” attempting to minimise the waste from our construction and refurbishment sites. We aim to prevent as much waste as possible by investing time in our material ordering systems, however we understand that a level of waste is always inevitable. We have re-use and re-cycling systems setup on our sites, again attempting to limit the impact on the environment from the materials we use.

We look to register as many of our projects as possible with schemes such as the considerate constructor’s scheme
www.considerateconstructorsscheme.org.uk or equivalent, in an attempt to formally monitor our activities and provide us feedback so we can continually improve our operations. We have also joined with the Wildlife Trust www.wildlifetrusts.org  to help them maintain the environment around us.
